Bye Bye Balayage

My hair has had a balayage for a while; a messy ombre which makes it less obvious when your hair is growing out. My hair needed a lift so last week I dyed my hair natural brown (see my last post) and I loved it. Anyway, I liked the idea of having half a head of caramel and chocolate highlights to give my hair an edge so I headed to a hair salon to get it done.

First she bleached the parts of my hair she was going to highlight and left the bleach in for half an hour. She then washed this off and applied toner all over my hair which was left in  for a couple of minutes and then washed off. My hair was then cut and blow dried.

I  asked for subtle highlights but my hair was light ash brown and blonde all over (although you can’t tell from pictures) which I was quite disappointed about. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the colour my hair turned out but I just didn’t love it on ME. I tried to convince myself and my hairdresser that I loved my new look but you could blatantly tell I wished my hair was a lot darker.

So… I dyed it brown again and boy I just felt so much happier! And in case you’re wondering, the highlights weren’t a waste of money because I had a nice pamper day, my hair was cut and I have really nice lighter strands in different shades all over my hair, which is what I wanted in the first place.
